Maven Robotics completes $100 million Series A

Santa Clara-based industrial robotics company Maven Robotics has emerged from stealth mode, announcing the completion of a $100 million Series A financing round. Investors include the publicly listed robotics fund RoboStrategy, as well as LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures, and venture capital from XTX Markets.

The company was founded in 2024 by brothers Hamza Derbas and Khalid Derbas. Hamza has over twenty years of experience in automotive electrification and autonomous driving, including nine years at Apple's Special Projects Group; Khalid comes from private equity and serves as the CFO. The team also includes personnel from Tesla, Rivian, Zoox, Cruise, and Ford, with a public headcount of about 23 to 34 people. Prior to this round, they had raised approximately $18 million in seed and accelerator funding from investors including Creator Fund, Phoenix Court, and Plug and Play.

The product is a wheeled dual-arm mobile manipulation platform, with a speed of about 10 miles per hour and a single-arm lifting capacity of about 30 kg. It uses vacuum suction cups to handle cardboard boxes and interfaces with warehouse management systems for mixed palletizing and tote handling. The founding customer is a Fortune 250 fast-moving consumer goods company, which placed an order even when Maven had only "robot sketches and a team" in 2024, competing against four existing prototype rivals. Currently, up to eight robots operate for 16 hours a day, claiming an uptime of no less than 99%, with plans to accumulate over 100,000 hours of autonomous operation by the end of the year and over 1 million hours by the end of 2027.

The $100 million will be used to manufacture 250 units of the third-generation machine and initiate the design of the fourth generation. The company estimates the market for mixed palletizing and tote handling to be around $80 billion, while more complex handling and assembly is estimated to exceed $1 trillion. Hamza explicitly rules out bipedal humanoid solutions, stating they are complex, unreliable, and raise costs; industrial scenarios require return on investment rather than human-like walking.

RoboStrategy investors note that the gap between demonstration robots and those capable of operating across three shifts is significant, contrasting it with Agility, which is also heading towards an IPO in the same year: the latter focuses on safety and specific industrial processes, while Maven targets end-to-end operations within warehouses. The funding is aimed at scaling up models already operating on customer sites, rather than developing humanoid prototypes in a lab.

In market mechanics, buyers need to reorder pallets based on store demand within 48 hours, relying on manual picking in fast-moving consumer goods and retail warehousing; sellers are Maven and its contract manufacturers. This is driven by delivery and financing events: first, there are on-site working hours, then Series A expansion. Funding flows from listed robotics funds, early European funds, and venture arms of high-frequency traders into complete machines and data loops. Beneficiaries include warehouse and distribution parties that can replace manual palletizing by shifts, as well as Maven, which can feed on-site data back into models; those under pressure are humanoid and single-point robotic arm suppliers still selling demonstration machines without proven three-shift availability.
