OpenSea announced the restoration of Solana NFT buying, selling, and listing features on the OS2 platform; this marks its return to Solana NFT trading after more than four years since a limited test in April 2022.

However, the trading functionality was not fully effective at the time of the announcement. The Block updated its report stating that OpenSea indicated Solana NFT trading had not yet launched, with expectations to open later that week; thus, "restored" should be understood as a product announcement and upcoming launch, rather than immediate trading availability for all users at that time.

OpenSea's 2022 Solana NFT Beta only covered 165 collections, with limited market penetration, while Solana's native platforms Magic Eden and Tensor handled most of the related trading volume at that time. This return will make Solana the first non-EVM network to receive NFT trading support from OpenSea after the end of its early Beta.

The first Solana collections available for discovery and trading on OpenSea include Mad Lads, Claynosaurz, BoDoggos, Collector Crypt, and Phygitals. Users can browse, purchase, sell, and manage these assets within the same OpenSea interface without switching to a separate Solana NFT market.

Previously, Solana returned to OpenSea in April 2025 via OS2, but only supported trading of fungible tokens like SOL, with NFT functionality listed for a future roadmap; starting in 2025, SOL was also integrated by OpenSea as a payment asset for purchasing NFTs from other chains.

In terms of market mechanics, OpenSea's goal in returning to Solana is to capture the order flow, royalties, listings, wallet connections, and transaction fees of Solana NFTs, rather than recreating the supply of collectibles on that chain. Buyers will gain cross-chain asset aggregation and a unified interface, while sellers will benefit from additional distribution channels; Magic Eden and Tensor will face a diversion of liquidity and user entry points for high-value collections. Ultimately, whether trading volume migrates will depend on OpenSea's fees, wallet experience, royalty policies, aggregation depth, and market-making liquidity, rather than simply adding a blockchain identifier.
