David Tisch, founder of early-stage investment firm BoxGroup, publicly stated that the Series A funding for financial AI company Rogo was "one of the most unexpected outcomes" of his career. He mentioned that almost all investors rejected Rogo at the time, and it was only Keith Rabois who stepped up to lead the investment after others had given up, "seeing the magic in it."

Tisch's post was prompted by Rogo co-founder and CEO Gabe Stengel publicly recounting this funding experience. Tisch noted that Stengel had "long moved past that moment" and believed that it was his persistence that found an investor willing to step in when others had given up. BoxGroup was an early investor in Rogo, participating from the seed round and later in the Series A and D rounds.

Rogo's Series A round raised $18.5 million, led by Khosla Ventures with Keith Rabois as the lead partner. Co-investors included Jack Altman's AltCapital, Original Capital, and Mantis VC, founded by The Chainsmokers, while existing investors AlleyCorp, BoxGroup, and ScOp Venture Capital also increased their stakes. At that time, Rogo's product was an AI tool that automatically drafted memos, built financial models, and created presentations for investment banking personnel, handling tens of thousands of queries daily. Within five months of its establishment, it achieved a seven-figure annual recurring revenue (ARR) with just one salesperson.

After the Series A, Rogo's funding pace accelerated significantly. In April 2025, Thrive Capital led a $50 million Series B round, post-money valuation reaching $350 million. In January 2026, Sequoia led a $75 million Series C round, post-money valuation reaching $750 million, while the company also entered the European market. In April 2026, Kleiner Perkins led a $160 million Series D round, with a valuation reaching $2 billion, and institutions like J.P. Morgan Growth Equity Partners participated, bringing total funding to over $300 million.

On the business front, Rogo has served over 35,000 professionals across more than 250 financial institutions, including clients like Rothschild & Co, Jefferies, Lazard, Moelis, Nomura, and GTCR. Industry estimates show its ARR grew from about $15 million at the end of 2025 to about $53 million by August 2026, with an annual fee of about $3,300 per seat, plus separate charges for professional data access. It launched the AI platform Felix, covering processes such as deal screening, CIM (Confidential Information Memorandum) generation, buyer outreach, data room due diligence, and research automation, and also acquired UK financial market tracking company Plux AI and AI agent company Offset.

Founded in January 2022, Rogo's three co-founders, Gabe Stengel, John Willett, and Tumas Rackaitis, are all Princeton University alumni. Stengel worked as an investment banking analyst at Lazard from 2020 to 2022, and the inspiration for the startup came from the release of GPT-3 and his undergraduate thesis on an econometric chatbot.

In terms of market mechanisms, this is a typical valuation path of "early rejection followed by late funding influx." At the Series A stage, mainstream institutions were generally skeptical about "vertical AI for investment banking," fearing that large banks would build their own tools, and data giants like Bloomberg and FactSet would also enter the fray. A few contrarian investors like Khosla secured low-priced stakes. As revenue validation occurred, large funds like Thrive, Sequoia, and Kleiner Perkins entered at higher valuations, resulting in significant paper gains for early investors. The parties under pressure are traditional financial data and terminal providers like Bloomberg, FactSet, and S&P Capital IQ, as well as outsourced research service providers, along with the hiring scale of junior analyst positions in investment banks.
