Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch wrote on October 9 that few things in work and life are more enjoyable than discovering new talent, often seeing a person's excellence even before they do. The post did not name the discovered individuals or disclose any job offers or positions.

Rauch's public approach is to formalize this discovery. In an interview, he referred to Vercel's method as the recursive founder model: since the founder model cannot be replicated at scale, he seeks individuals who think like founders to serve as CEOs of their own products. He cited Lars Graml, head of the AI software development toolkit, as an example, noting his communication, refinement, and customer obsession akin to that of a product CEO.

The company itself grew from his early tools. He created Socket.IO, co-founded Next.js, and transformed the command-line tool Now into Vercel. Publicly, Vercel is valued at $9.3 billion, with a revenue run rate exceeding $500 million, and front-end clients include OpenAI, Stripe, and Nike. Engineers are allowed to use any agents and models, with the AI Gateway described as the fastest-growing product.

He also keeps judgment on the periphery. In the interview, he mentioned that leverage has shifted from writing code to designing constraints, guardrails, and directing a fleet of software factories; what should be noted are the hardest prompts that models still cannot handle. Once new models are released and these prompts can run, that becomes business. The internal agent, called V, is used to shorten the delay from customer error reporting to fixing and going live. The phrase "seeing before oneself" did not provide any filtering tests or numbers.

This is framed in terms of population, not a job announcement. The seller is the founder who prices excellence in advance, while the buyer is the engineer who has not yet seen themselves as responsible for a product. No option terms were disclosed with the post. The beneficiaries are a few individuals assigned to a product line, while the majority of positions only receive model subscriptions without product ownership.
