Robot AI Training Data Provider Mecka AI Completes $60 Million Financing

Mecka AI, a startup focused on robot AI training data, announced the completion of a total of $60 million in financing, including $25 million in Series A funding last November and an additional $35 million.

The financing was led by Framework Ventures, with participation from Menlo Ventures, SV Angel, Kindred Ventures, and others. The company collects real human behavior data such as gestures and gait using body sensors, iPhones, and custom hardware to train general models for robots. The founder and CEO is Josh Gao.

Market Mechanism: Institutions like Framework Ventures inject capital as buyers, and Mecka AI exchanges equity for development funds to accelerate data collection and model training. Capital in the robot AI field continues to concentrate on high-quality real behavior data companies, putting pressure on traditional remote operation data providers.

Supplementary Data: The company was founded in 2025 and currently has about 40 employees. It has signed contracts with an annual recurring revenue (ARR) run rate expected to reach $100 million, and plans to expand from data supply to robot model training and commercial deployment in the future.

Mecka AI founder Josh Gao previously had relevant technical experience in the robotics and AI field. This financing continues the early strategy of avoiding traditional remote operation paths and focusing on real human behavior data, a concept clearly articulated at the company's founding in 2025.

In terms of capital strategy, Framework Ventures quickly increased its investment through two rounds of leading funding, directing resources towards building a sensor data collection network and hardware deployment. The strategic motive is to seize upstream scarce resources for robot training data, creating a closed loop for subsequent model training and deployment, while fostering a collaborative network among participating institutions.

Similar to Figure AI and 1X Technologies, which have developed through data-driven paths, Mecka AI is currently in the early expansion phase of commercializing robot AI from the laboratory, focusing on building data barriers to support general robotic capabilities.

Structural Judgment: Essentially a technological substitution. Mecka AI replaces inefficient remote operation data with large-scale real human behavior data, reducing training costs and enhancing model generalization capabilities, driving a structural leap in robot AI from specialized scenarios to general capabilities in the real world.
