U.S. President Donald Trump stated to reporters in the Oval Office that the U.S. "may soon" strike Iran's Kuh-e Kolang, claiming to have knowledge of personnel movements in the area and across Iran, stating, "If something goes wrong, we will strike again," while asserting that Iran will not possess nuclear weapons.

Kuh-e Kolang is located about 1 to 2 kilometers south of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility and approximately 220 kilometers south of Tehran. Public assessments indicate that tunnel halls are buried in granite at depths of over 80 to 100 meters, making it one of the few nuclear-related sites not targeted in previous U.S. and Israeli airstrikes. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has stated that there are no nuclear activities at this site, claiming that U.S. threats are merely excuses for aggression.

Since July, Trump has repeatedly mentioned this site, stating that strikes would be "soon and heavy," while also admitting that the U.S. "does not see activity" and suggesting that the relocation of centrifuges "may occur but is not recorded." The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Israeli intelligence believes Iran moved a large number of centrifuges there last fall. He also described the goal of five months of military action as preventing nuclear weapons, claiming that the U.S. has "essentially taken over Iran."

Satellite images show construction vehicles still present at the entrances and roads. Analysts believe the facility is not yet operational, with some tunnels on the eastern side being backfilled and blocked. The Natanz surface enrichment plant has been destroyed or heavily damaged, and Kuh-e Kolang is viewed as a candidate for reconstruction or storage.

In market mechanisms, buyers are looking to reintroduce nuclear risk premiums into oil prices and shipping insurance, while sellers weigh the costs of escalation between Hormuz and nuclear facilities. This is a statement-driven situation: funds are repricing the timing of strikes rather than pricing new discovered reserves. Beneficiaries are energy and insurance sectors that can charge for conflict premiums, while those under pressure include shipping routes, refinery inventories, and any risk assets still betting on a ceasefire.
