Brian Armstrong turned currency exchange into Coinbase in 2012, and the company later went public with the slogan of increasing economic freedom. He is also involved in ResearchHub and NewLimit, consistently aiming to transform a narrow tool into public infrastructure. Y Combinator uses "create what people want" as an interview standard, and he has now placed the same phrase into children's aspirations, effectively transforming the founder selection phrase into a cultural slogan.

There is no new direction for capital. Coinbase's revenue still comes from trading, custody, and subscriptions, not from this post. The motivation is to shift the objects of imitation from consumption to creation as technology has taken over everyday discussions. Founders and engineers are named, while traders and celebrities are not. If talent follows this phrase, they will go to companies that can deliver products people want to use, rather than merely discussing the position of technology.

The analogy is that the personal computer in the 1980s made garage founders the protagonists of biographies, and after 2010, entrepreneurial shows turned fundraising into competitions. Those narratives pushed engineers from the background to the forefront. Armstrong is in a phase of cultural diffusion, not product release. The exchange has no new features, but the list of role models has expanded to include two new professions.

Structurally, this represents a shift in pricing power. Career prestige was originally priced by degrees, licenses, and institutional titles, but is now priced by who can create things that are used. The mechanism is that technology has entered culture, and children will replicate visible roles. Building is framed as contribution, while consumption and speculation are not included in this phrase.

What people want precedes who children want to become.
Career prestige is no longer solely issued by licenses, but also by usage.
