Uniswap's protocol burn mechanism destroyed approximately 178,000 UNI in one day, equivalent to over $1.11 million. The Robinhood Chain contributed about 144,000 UNI, accounting for over 80%, surpassing Ethereum and Base chains.

The burn path is through UNIfication, passed in December 2025: protocol fees enter each chain's TokenJar, seekers first burn an equivalent amount of UNI, then receive fees from the jar, and cross-chain UNI bridges back to the Ethereum mainnet before being sent to the burn address. The Robinhood Chain went live on the mainnet on July 1, with Uniswap deploying v2, v3, and v4 on the same day, and governance in July integrated the chain's fees into the same Firepit. This chain is Arbitrum Orbit, and withdrawals require a challenge period before landing on the mainnet.

During the same period, on-chain DEX transactions reportedly exceeded $3 billion in a single day, with Uniswap accounting for the vast majority; the Robinhood Chain's protocol fees also recorded a single-day high of about $6 million. Geoff Kendrick, head of digital asset research at Standard Chartered, estimated that at the current burn rate, approximately $90 million would be burned annually, and stated that the $100 target for 2030 might be conservative. The circulating supply is about 624 million, corresponding to an annual burn rate of about 4% at that price. Founder Hayden Adams mentioned after the fee activation that the burn would be significant based on the current transactions, especially from Robinhood.

The single-day burn of 178,000 UNI is not a historical record for the highest number, but it is the first time the dollar value has reached around a million. The high concentration of fees on a new chain indicates that the burn is sensitive to stock tokenization trading and incentives on that chain, diluting the shares of the mainnet and Base. The growth budget is still issuing UNI annually, which will partially offset the burn.

Market mechanisms indicate that buyers are purchasing the "fees equal to burn, with 80% contribution from the new chain" deflation narrative; sellers are projecting the single-day peak into a steady state. Beneficiaries are UNI bulls and market makers on that chain; those under pressure are still valuing based on the old DEX shares and liquidity providers who are providing liquidity but losing protocol fees. Funds are shifting from UNI trading pairs on other L2s to the Robinhood pool that can generate TokenJar balances.

The 80% burn coming from a two-month-old chain indicates concentration, not a permanent fee rate.
