Kraken's status page reported an incident on October 9 at 10:07 AM (UTC), stating that it is investigating a batch of customers who see incorrect margin information compared to their spot balances on the app and website. The announcement specified that only some customers are affected, not all accounts, and the team is addressing the issue.

The same status page was updated at 2:31 PM to indicate monitoring. The original text stated that a fix had been implemented and results are being observed. The page did not specify the number of affected accounts, the extent of the discrepancies, when the issue began, or whether it involves specific trading pairs.

The public incident title covers both margin information and spot balances across the app and website interfaces. The status page did not clarify whether the incorrect numbers affected orders, liquidations, or withdrawals, only confirming that incorrect information was displayed. The cause, responsibility, and whether user action is required were not disclosed.

Cointelegraph previously reported the margin display anomaly, at which time no mention of a fix had been made. The official subsequent update changed the incident from investigation to monitoring, effectively acknowledging that a fix had been submitted, but results are still under observation. The status page also included other entries on the same day, such as the suspension of Decred deposits and the lifting of performance issues with Brazilian Real PIX deposits, which were not incorporated into the margin incident.

Kraken did not publish customer notifications, compensation, or trade rollbacks under this incident. The term "subset" is the official wording, and the criteria for affected accounts have not been made public. The monitoring status means the page remains open and is not resolved.

This is not a trading announcement but a failure in account display. Buyers are leveraged users making decisions based on the displayed margin and spot balances, while sellers face pressure as incorrect numbers may change the timing of orders. The incident is driven by two updates on the status page, not by the inflow of funds for a specific coin. Beneficiaries are users who have waited for the fix to be submitted and have switched to other verification methods; those under pressure are the subset of customers who make margin decisions based solely on app or website balances, as the official has yet to prove that the display has returned to correctness and has not clarified whether matching is affected.

The time from 10:07 AM to 2:31 PM is the official public investigation window, approximately 4 hours and 24 minutes. After monitoring began, the status page did not provide a next update time.
