MyHair AI, an AI hair loss detection app developed by French independent developer Cyriac Lefort in collaboration with partner Tilen Babnik, has generated a total revenue of $19,034 since its launch in June 2025. The project is now listed for sale at $70,000.

The product was inspired by Lefort's experience two years ago when a barber in New York remarked, "Your hair seems to be thinning," leading him to believe he was going bald. He immediately purchased two bottles of shampoo, but later medical checks revealed no signs of hair loss. This experience made him realize the significant information asymmetry and business opportunity behind hair loss anxiety.

The core function of MyHair AI allows users to upload photos of their scalp, which are first filtered for clarity by a computer vision model, and then analyzed by a lightweight model to assess follicle density and measure hairline recession in specific millimeters. The free version provides basic results, while tracking data and customized plans require a subscription of $9.99 per month or $39.99 annually for the paid version.

Monetization extends beyond subscription fees—MyHair AI has integrated high-end hair clinics in Paris and New York into its backend, creating a distribution loop from in-app detection to offline expert consultations and referrals to specialized clinics, gradually directing free users to higher-priced offline medical services.

According to data from the third-party trading platform TrustMRR, the MyHair AI team previously invested about $500,000 and formed a five-person team to develop the product. In its first year, it accumulated over 1,000 paid subscribers, but the monthly recurring revenue has now fallen to $766, with the number of paid subscriptions down to 186, while maintaining a high profit margin of 90%.

In terms of market dynamics, Lefort gradually stepped back from the project's daily operations a year ago to focus on another new business with greater growth potential, leading to MyHair AI being packaged for sale. This strategy of "creating a small cash flow product and then flipping it for cash" is a typical path for independent developers to utilize AI tools for low-cost trial and rapid validation of business models. Buyers are attracted to its 90% high gross margin and reusable clinic distribution network rather than growth itself.
