Meta has acquired Stockholm-based AI company Stilla.ai to accelerate the Meta Business Agent, which handles customer service for businesses on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, driving sales.

Stilla was founded in 2024 by Siavash Ghorbani and Kaj Drobin, and completed a $5 million seed round in January 2026, led by General Catalyst, with angel investors including founders from ElevenLabs, Lovable, Shopify, Legora, Synthesia, Sana Labs, and Hugging Face. The company was originally positioned to provide a continuous context layer across meetings, chats, and codebases for teams and agents. After the acquisition, the team and technology will be integrated into Meta, with the financial terms undisclosed.

Meta stated that it has been building merchant infrastructure on messaging apps for the past decade, with over 1 million businesses currently using the Business Agent to handle customer interactions. The acquisition aims to convert inquiries into purchases more quickly. The company also plans to expand its operations in Sweden. The announcement comes just after the launch of the personal assistant Muse: a task manager for consumers and a sales assistant for businesses, running two parallel agent lines.

Stilla's official website has confirmed its integration into Meta, providing technology for business AI products. Axios was the first to report, citing informed sources, while Meta and Stilla did not immediately comment to some media outlets.

In market mechanics, this is an acquisition of application distribution rights: Meta is absorbing a contextual startup through an existing conversational entry point, integrating external seed round technology into its sales funnel. Beneficiaries include businesses already using the Business Agent and the messaging ad inventory; pressured parties are tool vendors creating independent business chatbots without billion-level conversational entry points. Funds are shifting from venture capital to large tech acquisitions, with Swedish engineering becoming a European base for Meta.

Stock prices rose on the day of the AI product news, and the acquisition itself is not a standalone pricing event. Whether the conversion rate can increase due to the integration will depend on future product versions, not just press releases.
