In terms of capital pathways, chip performance improvements will lower the inference cost per unit of intelligence; speeding up on-chain settlements can reduce idle funds in cross-border remittances, reconciliations, and batch processing windows. The former competes for AI computing budgets, while the latter competes for payment, deposit, and clearing balances. The commonality of both pathways is: whoever controls the underlying network and access points has the opportunity to convert efficiency improvements into service fees, interest spreads, or ecosystem traffic.

A historical comparison is cloud computing replacing self-built servers, instant messaging replacing some SMS revenue, and real-time payments replacing ACH batch processing. Technology often initially uses "faster" to attract users, but the ultimate winners usually depend on reliability, compliance, reversibility, developer ecosystems, and network coverage. Blockchain payments can achieve 24/7 settlement in certain scenarios, but must operate in conjunction with bank accounts, tax compliance, anti-money laundering, and consumer dispute resolution.

This relates to the transfer of pricing power. The profits of monetary infrastructure have long derived from time differences: clearing cycles, funds in transit, correspondent banks, reconciliations, and liquidity management. If on-chain payments can compress these time differences under compliance conditions, value will migrate from traditional intermediaries to stablecoin issuers, wallet access points, blockchain sorters, and liquidity networks. The mechanism is not "chains are faster" itself, but who can provide reliable fiat currency exchanges, identity verification, and final settlement guarantees for fast fund flows.
