Enterprise software company Hypercubic announced the completion of a $5.3 million seed round financing, led by CIV, to build a platform for transforming mainframe systems through software automation.

The company was founded by Sai Gurrapu and Aayush Naik, targeting clients in banking, airlines, government agencies, and large enterprises; these industries generally operate legacy mainframe systems that are critical, have incomplete documentation, and have been in use for many years.

Traditional mainframe modernization relies on large teams to understand code, rebuild systems, migrate, and validate, with project cycles spanning several years and budgets reaching tens of millions of dollars. Hypercubic aims to convert these processes into repeatable software workflows rather than customized human projects.

Hypercubic claims its platform is building the capability to understand, rebuild, and validate critical systems and has already compressed parts of the modernization lifecycle in client scenarios; however, the company has not disclosed client names, migration scales, deployment cycles, accuracy rates, or contract amounts.

The company defines mainframe modernization as shifting from a "labor-intensive problem" to a "computational problem": using automation to analyze old code, extract business logic, generate new system components, and reduce business interruption risks post-migration through validation processes.

In market mechanics, buyers are financial institutions, airlines, governments, and large enterprises that maintain COBOL, PL/I, and other legacy systems while facing aging talent and cloud migration pressures; sellers are Hypercubic and its ecosystem partners, providing code understanding, migration generation, testing validation, and system integration capabilities. If automation can reduce the costs of manual audits and regression testing, clients may redirect budgets originally allocated to traditional consulting firms and long-term outsourcing projects towards software subscriptions and computing resources; however, for core accounting, ticketing, and public systems, the risks of validation failure or migration interruption will still limit procurement pace.
