OpenRouter is not a lab for training cutting-edge models, but a neutral routing layer between models; once this position becomes the default entry point, it could control developer traffic, usage data, and switching costs. Stripe is currently in a phase of expanding from a payment processor to AI commercial infrastructure.

Essentially, it is a reconstruction of the industrial chain. The profit pool from competition among large models does not solely belong to model providers: model switching, call authentication, usage measurement, cost attribution, and billing constitute the control layer for enterprise AI deployment. The more dispersed the model supply, the more valuable the routing and settlement layer becomes; once this layer is acquired by a large payment platform, the model companies' control over customer relationships and pricing will partially shift to the infrastructure operators.
