Echo Protocol Announces Gradual Termination of Operations Due to Business Adjustments

Bitcoin infrastructure protocol Echo Protocol announced it will gradually terminate its operations due to business adjustments and has committed to a transparent completion of subsequent liquidation.

The core business has stopped accepting incremental funds: the lending protocol has halted new deposits, new loans, and interest accrual, while strategies and LSD services have stopped new deposits and new staking.

The official channels for repayments, withdrawals, and necessary asset liquidation have been opened, urging lending users to repay debts, release collateral, and withdraw assets as soon as possible; strategy and LSD users are encouraged to initiate exits and claims early; users holding aBTC can still redeem using the Aptos-to-B² cross-chain bridge.

All borrowers with outstanding debts must complete repayments by November 14, 2026, otherwise, they will face collateral liquidation, with proceeds used to repay lenders.

The final deadline for repayments, withdrawals, and unstaking is November 19, 2026, at 23:59 (UTC); after this, the protocol will officially cease operations, and remaining positions will enter final liquidation and settlement, retaining only the Aptos-to-B² cross-chain bridge redemption service.

The actual claim time for LSD and Strategy assets is affected by the underlying staking/un-staking request times; funds are flowing from the protocol to user wallets or other chains, and collateral that is not repaid in time faces liquidation, benefiting users who have withdrawn and lenders, while overdue borrowers bear the burden.

Echo Protocol has operated on Aptos for nearly two years, providing Bitcoin-related lending, strategy, and LSD services, and supporting aBTC redemption through the Aptos-to-B² bridge. This shutdown occurs in the context of an overall contraction in DeFi protocols, with TVL primarily concentrated in B² Network and Bitcoin-related assets.

The team has stopped new fund inflows and opened exit channels, focusing resources on orderly liquidation and collateral disposal, motivated by the need to reduce ongoing operational costs and control remaining risks, while retaining the cross-chain bridge to handle specific asset redemptions.

Similar cases can be seen in other small Bitcoin DeFi protocols choosing to gradually exit rather than hard shut down after facing liquidity shortages; Echo is currently in a contraction phase transitioning from an active protocol to liquidation and settlement.

This represents a restructuring of the industry chain: the protocol shifts its control point from continuously attracting deposits and generating revenue to enforcing exits and collateral liquidation processes, redistributing remaining assets through deadlines and liquidation rules, changing the liquidity flow from being locked within the protocol to users actively withdrawing, thereby altering the storage path of Bitcoin assets within this ecosystem.

  1. Stopping new inflows is a signal to exit, and deadlines determine asset ownership.

  2. Collateral liquidation protects lenders, while overdue borrowers bear the costs.

  3. The cross-chain bridge can be retained, while core business operations cease first.
