New York Post Launches Hamilton AI Chatbot for Personalized News
The New York Post Media Group has launched a customized AI chatbot as part of a broader AI-driven personalized news experience called "Hamilton."
The project is named after Alexander Hamilton, the founder of the New York Post, and aims to provide users with more personalized news services through AI. Ariscielle Novicio, the group's Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Product and Digital Strategy, stated that these tools help readers discover more content and receive more personalized, optimized recommendations.
Starting Tuesday, users will see Hamilton in the New York Post and California Post's Android and iOS apps, with plans to eventually expand it to the open web.
Hamilton is a unified brand for AI-driven personalization features, including the AI chatbot Hamilton Search, personalized news brief Post Express, content recommendation engine Picked For You, and commentary and analysis content discovery tool Post Voices.
These tools are built on Google Cloud infrastructure and the Gemini model, utilizing only current and archived content from the New York Post and California Post newsrooms, without producing original content or making editorial judgments.
In market mechanisms, publishers lock in reader interactions through their own AI interfaces to address declines in search and social traffic, with funding and technological investments flowing into personalized recommendations and conversational news tools, putting pressure on traditional distribution models that rely on external traffic.
This marks the first collaboration between Google Cloud and North American news partners to create an AI chatbot.

The New York Post Media Group launched Hamilton ahead of its 225th anniversary, positioning AI as a new layer of interaction between readers and the newsroom, continuing the evolution from print to mobile to conversational experiences.
The capital path is reflected in deep collaboration with Google Cloud, utilizing the Gemini model and enterprise agent platform to build a unified personalization brand, motivated by keeping readers within their own apps and websites, reducing reliance on search and social platforms for traffic.
Similar cases of media outlets like The Washington Post, Time, and USA Today have launched their own AI tools, currently in a phase where news organizations are using conversation and recommendations to combat traffic loss.
Essentially, this is about technological substitution and distribution reconstruction, where publishers must redefine their connection with readers through their own AI after external traffic entry points are rewritten by AI.
