Solana Perpetual Protocol FlashTrade Announces Closure

FlashTrade founder Anas announced the closure of the project and is seeking to sell the existing tech stack to compensate FAF holders.

He attributed the reasons to serious internal team disagreements, market contraction, and a long-term lack of profitability, stating that the most hurtful aspect was the Solana Foundation's indifference, believing it only fully supports one team. Anas emphasized that he does not blame the foundation and that he was overly emotional. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko responded that the foundation cannot determine product success, mainly assisting with GTM and exposure, with the final outcome depending on the product itself.

The project closure puts pressure on FAF holders, while potential acquirers of the tech stack and competitors benefit, intensifying competition among perpetual protocols in the Solana ecosystem.

FlashTrade, as a self-launched perpetual contract protocol on Solana, previously accumulated users through Breakpoint presentations and the V2 release, emphasizing ethical operations and returning part of the profits to holders, but failed to achieve sustainable profitability in the bear market.

In terms of capital, the team did not seek external financing but raised funds independently, motivated by a desire to maintain independence, shifting resources from product iteration to eventual exit and compensation, reflecting the real pressures faced by DeFi projects in traffic and support allocation.

Similar cases can be seen with other on-chain DEXs closing due to competition and market contraction, as well as some projects in the Solana ecosystem experiencing accelerated growth due to significant support from the foundation; the current phase is characterized by a concentration of ecological resources towards leading teams.

Essentially, this reflects capital concentration: limited foundation resources and user attention skewed towards a few teams, with the mechanism being that product-market fit and external support jointly determine survival, making independent projects more likely to exit during downturns.
