SharpLink Deploys $400 Million On-Chain to Ether.fi and Lido

NASDAQ-listed company SharpLink has announced the completion of its first major on-chain deployment, investing $400 million in Ethereum, with $200 million each allocated to Ether.fi and Lido, and Anchorage serving as the custodian.

The company stated that these investments enable the team to deploy ETH daily. The Lido portion aligns with plans for August 2026: obtaining wstETH through staking $200 million with Lido, held by Anchorage, and does not represent an additional $200 million.

The Ether.fi portion continues a previous re-staking strategy, having previously deployed weETH to Linea and collaborated with EigenCloud for additional yields and incentives, with funds held by a qualified custodian throughout.

Lido's protocol has a TVL of approximately $23.18 billion, while Ether.fi's stake is about $4.61 billion.

SharpLink is one of the largest enterprise-level ETH holders globally, with total holdings previously reaching around $1.4 billion, and has enhanced treasury productivity through native staking, Liquid Collective, and Ether.fi, while reporting related earnings and non-cash impairments.

This deployment clearly shifts funds from idle holdings to active on-chain positions, utilizing institutional-grade custody and liquid staking/re-staking products to generate daily yields and maintain composability.

Institutional funds are buying and staking ETH for yields, driven by a shift from passive holdings to active on-chain deployments by corporate treasuries; funds are flowing to Lido and Ether.fi, with SharpLink and the protocols benefiting from yields and TVL, while pure holding strategies and inefficient custody face pressure.

ABAB AI Insight

SharpLink has previously deployed a significant amount of ETH through Liquid Collective's LsETH and Ether.fi's weETH, completing a $170 million deployment to Linea in January 2026 while collaborating with Anchorage to maintain custody compliance; similar trends are observed in other corporate treasuries transitioning from Bitcoin holdings to ETH yield generation.

Capital is flowing from corporate ETH reserves to Lido's wstETH and Ether.fi's weETH/re-staking positions, with institutional-grade risk control achieved through Anchorage custody; prior plans involved phased deployments to Linea with added EigenCloud incentives, aiming to enhance daily treasury yield while maintaining redeemability and composability.

This mirrors the path taken by companies like MicroStrategy, which sought yield enhancement after adopting Bitcoin as a reserve asset, but SharpLink is more directly engaging in liquid staking and re-staking layers; it is currently in a phase of corporate treasury transformation from simple holding to on-chain productive assets, with Lido holding a dominant share while Ether.fi offers higher yield options.

Essentially, this represents a transfer of pricing power and restructuring of the industry chain: companies are converting idle ETH into yield-bearing collateral, protocols capture value through TVL and fees, and custodians provide compliance layers; funds are flowing from banks or cold wallets to on-chain protocols, making staking yields a new balance sheet tool while introducing smart contract and protocol risks.
