The 2019 “Oust Duterte plot” story became one of the most consequential controversies of Dante Ang’s journalistic career.

In April 2019, The Manila Times published a front-page story and an “association matrix” written by Ang alleging links among the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, VERA Files, Rappler, the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers, and a network supposedly seeking to weaken or remove President Duterte.
