Tax-advantaged money market funds can be exempt from a combination of: - Federal taxes - State taxes - City taxes (in places like NYC) And some funds like VYFXX are exempt from all 3 Interest from a high-yield savings account is taxed at every single levelAnkur Nagpal · 2026/01/01
This is not to take anything away from the Wealthfront team Just getting to this level is an incredible accomplishment, particularly in this line of business They are going to a place where very few of us ever will be able to (building a public fintech company from scratch)Ankur Nagpal · 2025/12/02
The Wealthfront “success” story is proof of just how hard fintech is: - Been around since 2008 - Raised almost $300M - Had a $1.4B acquisition by UBS terminated in 2022 Now looking to offload almost a quarter of the company in an IPO valued at $2B Gonna be a tough sellAnkur Nagpal · 2025/12/02
I fail to see how a company like say, Wealthfront, can go public in the current market environment without getting slaughtered Will be an interesting few months to see where the IPO market goes from hereAnkur Nagpal · 2025/12/01
