Bitcoin's price has risen approximately 31% since CNBC host Jim Cramer announced at the end of July this year that he planned to sell all of his Bitcoin, becoming another "Inverse Cramer" case that the cryptocurrency community is talking about.

In a CNBC interview aired on July 30, Cramer cited a warning from IBM CEO Arvind Krishna about quantum computing potentially threatening existing crypto algorithms "in three to four years" and announced, "I’m going to sell my (Bitcoin)," stating, "When is three or four years? It’s almost tomorrow," while also expressing that the risks for Ethereum could be "even more severe." Cramer had never publicly confirmed the specific amount of Bitcoin he held, and there was no independent verification from the market that he had indeed completed the sell-off.

On the day the news was announced (July 31), Bitcoin closed at approximately $62,826; thereafter, the price remained relatively stagnant for nearly three weeks until August 19, when the U.S. Treasury announced an expansion of its bond buyback program, leading to a rally in the overall crypto market; by August 21, Bitcoin briefly reached $78,049, with a weekly increase of 17% and a monthly increase of 11.49%; entering September, the price approached the $82,000 mark, representing a cumulative increase of about 31% from the $62,826 at the time of Cramer's announcement.

However, this increase was not fully maintained. In early September, the sudden escalation of the U.S.-Iran conflict triggered a "flash crash" in the cryptocurrency market, with Bitcoin briefly falling below $78,000 and testing the $77,000 support level; as of September 20, Bitcoin was reported at $80,326, down about 1% within 24 hours, having retreated from its previous high of nearly $82,000. Year-to-date, Bitcoin is down 15.79% from the closing price of $87,498 on December 31, 2025, and down 34.49% from the same period last year (August 21, 2025) at $112,480, still significantly below the historical high of approximately $126,000 set in early October 2025.

It is worth mentioning that just three weeks after issuing the "sell-off" warning, on August 23, Cramer reversed his stance and suggested that investors buy Bitcoin, when the price had just surpassed $79,000.

The cryptocurrency community has formed a fixed trading pattern based on Cramer's statements—after his announcement of the sell-off, numerous limit buy order screenshots quickly appeared on social media, with traders viewing it as "the strongest buy signal of 2026," continuing the "Inverse Cramer" strategy: this strategy originates from Cramer's past high-profile misjudgments, including selling off most of his Bitcoin holdings in 2021 due to China's crackdown on crypto mining, turning bearish during the crypto market crash in 2022, and then in early 2024 reversing his stance to call Bitcoin a "technological miracle that will exist long-term." Tuttle Capital even launched an ETF product named "Inverse Cramer Tracker" (SJIM) specifically betting against his judgments, which was liquidated in 2024.

This round of Bitcoin's phase rebound is only loosely related to Cramer's sell-off statement; the real driving force is the overall risk asset recovery brought about by the U.S. Treasury's expansion of bond buyback operations after August 19, along with the subsequent market expectations for improved liquidity conditions; the decline in September is mainly related to the risk aversion sentiment triggered by the escalation of the U.S.-Iran conflict.
