The official account of Google Flow announced that over 25 million people use the tool each month to brainstorm, create stories, and generate content, confirming that it will continue to provide all users with an additional 50 points daily.

Flow is a generative creation studio from Google Labs, debuting with video tools in 2025, integrating ImageFX and Whisk into the same interface by February 2026, and shutting down the independent Whisk in April of the same year. The underlying models include the video side Veo, the image side Nano Banana, and later additions like the Gemini Omni agent and Flow Music's Lyria music model, covering text, images, video, and songs.

Points are used as a currency. Non-subscribers can receive a one-time allocation plus 50 daily points, which do not expire on the same day; the first generation triggers a refresh the next day; failed generations will refund points. Google AI Plus, Pro, Ultra provide an additional 200, 1,000, 10,000, or 25,000 points monthly, with prices ranging from approximately $4.99 to $99.99 and $199.99. Veo 3.1 Fast costs about 20 points per use (Ultra half price), Quality about 100 points, and a single request may yield multiple completed pieces.

The product is available in over 140 countries, and Workspace enterprise and education accounts can also generate videos. In August 2025, Google stated that users generated over 100 million videos through Flow. The official 50 daily points are framed as a continuous policy rather than a limited-time promotion. Autodesk filed a trademark lawsuit over the Flow name that year, which does not affect this usage statement.

The positioning against OpenAI, Runway, and Pika lies in Google using an account system to provide free daily allocations, keeping trials on its own models, and directing overages towards Plus and Ultra. Daily points do not roll over, encouraging daily visits; monthly points do not roll over, prompting subscription renewals.

The market mechanism is to subsidize customer acquisition. Buyers are creators and small teams needing short videos and storyboards, while sellers are Google, which needs to feed interaction data to Veo and Gemini and funnel heavy users into Google One. The event is driven by the simultaneous release of monthly active user numbers and the points announcement. Beneficiaries are model training and subscription funnels, while those under pressure are independent video tools that cannot distribute without a search account and can only sell generated videos per piece.
