OpenAI Announces Shutdown of Independent Browser ChatGPT Atlas
OpenAI will cease operations of the independent browser Atlas on August 9, less than a year after its launch.
The main capabilities of Atlas will be integrated into ChatGPT and Codex. The new desktop version of ChatGPT now supports multiple tabs, file downloads, website logins, and allows the Agent to directly interact with web pages. It can also call ChatGPT via a Chrome extension.
Bookmarks, tabs, and browsing history from Atlas will not be automatically migrated; users must manually export them before the service shuts down.
