OKX Releases Exchange OS White Paper, Opens On-Chain Market Deployment

OKX has officially released the Exchange OS white paper, which is an open protocol infrastructure allowing anyone to deploy spot, perpetual contracts, or prediction markets based on X Layer without platform approval.

Star, the founder and CEO of OKX, stated that the next evolution of on-chain finance is to build shared market infrastructure, enabling developers and institutions to efficiently create new trading markets while maintaining sufficient flexibility in frontend design, market structure, risk control, and compliance frameworks.

This move aims to shift on-chain finance from being dominated by a few platforms to a new phase co-written by all builders.

OKX has previously launched Layer 2 solutions like X Layer, and this Exchange OS white paper continues its path of transitioning from centralized exchanges to open on-chain infrastructure, attempting to lower the barriers for developers to create markets and attract more institutional participation.

In terms of capital pathways, OKX is concentrating resources on a shared protocol layer, mobilizing external developers and liquidity through open deployment, with the motivation to expand X Layer's TVL and trading volume while achieving a combination of decentralization and centralized advantages within a compliance framework, forming a multi-party co-built market network.

Similar to the early evolution of protocols like Uniswap and dYdX with open governance and deployment, as well as attempts by CEXs like Binance to expand on-chain, OKX is currently in a transformation phase from closed platforms to an open co-building ecosystem in on-chain finance.

Essentially, this represents a restructuring of the industry chain: shifting market creation rights from platform monopoly to open sharing at the protocol layer, with mechanisms in blockchain technology reducing deployment and compliance friction, attracting more participants to co-build liquidity and innovative markets, and promoting the evolution of on-chain finance from control by a few giants to a distributed market network.
