Dyson has released its first oral care product, the CameraJet electric toothbrush, priced at $499. It features a built-in camera, AI recognition, and a liquid spray system that can identify gaps between teeth and direct mouthwash during brushing.

The CameraJet brush head is equipped with a 100,000-pixel macro lens that analyzes 28 frames of oral images per second. Dyson claims its Gap Optical Targeting machine learning system is trained on 470,000 images of teeth, allowing it to identify gaps in real-time, predict brush head position, and trigger a conical liquid spray within about 100 milliseconds after detecting a gap.

The device combines a sonic vibrating brush head, oscillating bristles, an oral camera, and precise liquid rinsing. The liquid nozzle is located beneath the bristles, directing water or low-foam mouthwash into the gaps between teeth and along the gum line. Dyson defines this as "brushing while precisely cleaning between teeth," as opposed to the mechanical pulling cleaning of traditional dental floss.

The CameraJet can connect to the MyDyson app via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing users to view real-time oral images, cleaning coverage, and long-term missed areas on their mobile devices, as well as receive personalized brushing feedback. Dyson states that the camera will only activate when users enable the real-time viewing or automatic spraying functions, and images will not be stored locally on the toothbrush or in the cloud. This privacy commitment still depends on actual software permissions, data processing architecture, and subsequent policy enforcement.

The product is available in two colors: Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink. The package includes a liquid refill base, two standard brush heads, and a charging cable. Dyson has also launched three types of low-foam toothpaste and two types of mouthwash, significantly extending its business model from one-time hardware sales to ongoing repurchases of brush heads, dedicated consumables, and refills.

In market dynamics, buyers are consumers willing to pay a premium for oral visualization, automated inter-dental cleaning, and intelligent feedback. Dyson sells the device, brush heads, and mouthwash refill system. The funding flows into micro-optics, machine vision, oral consumables, subscription-based replenishment, and application services. Traditional high-end electric toothbrush brands like Oral-B and Philips Sonicare will face pressure from functional differentiation, but the $499 price of the CameraJet is significantly higher than that of mass-market electric toothbrushes, limiting its short-term penetration rate.
