Former Coinbase CTO and Network School founder Balaji Srinivasan announced that the Kazakhstan campus is officially open, with a crowded ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by government officials who welcomed the initiative and continued to recruit global talent.

He described Kazakhstan as a high-tech, low-cost, confident destination for young people with sufficient national capacity, mentioning that the country recently ranked first in the International Physics Olympiad. The enrollment portal directs to the official application page, accepting individuals, partners, families, or entire teams for relocation. The campus is located on the fifth floor of Astana Hub, with partners including the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and local tech parks; the launch ceremony on September 2 was held at Alem.ai, co-hosted by Superteam Kazakhstan.

This announcement came quickly. Less than a day after the Johor authorities revoked the operating license for Forest City, he announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev signed with him, and Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov also discussed creating an international tech hub in Akmolinsk and Alatau. The agreement includes expedited visas, convenient relocation registration, AI and entrepreneurship training. The school stated that the project is funded privately and does not draw from national finances. There are also discussions about creating a Network City tech town in Burabai. Membership plans include accommodation, dining, gym, co-working spaces, and technical training.

After the closure of the Malaysian base, the entire community relocated from the outskirts of Johor Bahru to the tech park in the capital of Central Asia. Kazakhstan is simultaneously promoting AI accelerators and foreign talent policies, with Telegram and NVIDIA also establishing data centers locally. Network School positions itself as a bridge connecting global remote workers, founders, and local engineers, claiming this is a small-scale neighborhood prototype towards a "digital nation."

In market mechanisms, this is a community relocation driven by regulatory arbitrage. The buyers are remote tech workers seeking low living costs and expedited visas, while the sellers are host countries willing to exchange parks and visas for international entrepreneurs. Funds come from member monthly fees and private sponsorships for operations and activities in Astana, rather than real estate development loans. The beneficiaries are Kazakhstan's departments that can package physical Olympiad results and national parks as talent magnets, while the pressured parties are the Malaysian local regulators who just lost the Forest City license, and any early members who view the network nation experiment as a non-transferable asset.
