LayerZero Executor Wallet Suspected of Being Hacked, Loss of $2.1 Million
On-chain analyst Specter has detected that an Executor wallet of LayerZero is suspected to have been hacked, with the attacker transferring funds across chains to Ethereum via Stargate and Relay.
The stolen funds currently hold approximately 955 ETH (about $1.78 million) and $322,000 USDC, totaling a loss of about $2.1 million.
The security incident of cross-chain protocols triggered a capital outflow from DeFi users, with hedge funds and liquidity providers accelerating withdrawals from LayerZero-related pools, leading to an increased demand for security audits and benefiting competing protocols.

LayerZero previously exposed risks due to configuration issues in the KelpDAO-related incident, with the protocol emphasizing that the Executor is used for gas abstraction and execution, separate from core messaging.
On the capital path, the attacker quickly cashed out using the cross-chain bridge, causing LayerZero ecosystem projects and users to reallocate liquidity due to security concerns, directing funds towards bridges with stricter audits or higher decentralization.
Similar to past cross-chain hacking incidents, liquidity migration is occurring, and LayerZero is currently in a phase of rebuilding trust in bridge protocol security.
This essentially represents capital concentration in technological alternatives, with the Executor breach highlighting the risks of single components, prompting DeFi capital to shift towards infrastructures with multiple validators and strong insurance mechanisms.

- Executor security is the key to cross-chain.
- The more convenient the bridge, the faster the hacker cashes out.
- Losses educate capital, audits reshape trust.
