Pump.fun Temporarily Removed from US and India iOS Stores

Carl, the mobile head of Pump.fun, posted that the app is currently unavailable for download in the Apple App Store in the US and India. Users who have already installed the app can still open it normally, and funds are unaffected; only new users attempting to install from the store in these two regions are impacted.

The official statement is that Android users can still download from the Google Store, and the team will continue to push updates to all users, expecting the app to be back in the stores soon. The app is developed by Baton Corp, listed under the entertainment category, and its in-app wallet is provided by Privy, supporting self-hosting and private key import.

Recently, the mobile app added limit orders, take profit and stop loss features, and a new homepage information stream. The daily trading volume on the front end increased from about $15 million in early July to about $84 million in the first week of September, with a peak daily volume reaching $100 million. Other statistics show that the app's daily trading volume rose from about $250,000 at launch to about $50 million, and daily active users increased from about 5,600 to about 34,100.

The platform's website and token portal indicate long-term restrictions in the US jurisdiction, and the UK has been geographically blocked since the Financial Conduct Authority's warning in December 2024, making the app unavailable to UK users. In the US, there are also lawsuits related to intellectual property and securities law against the platform and its founding team. The Google Store page shows over 500,000 downloads and a rating of about 4.4.

From a market mechanism perspective, this is a customer acquisition gate event rather than an on-chain run: the buyers are retail users in the US and India looking to install from the Apple Store, while the sellers are existing users and Android channels. Funds remain in the installed client and on-chain wallet and do not automatically transfer due to the removal. Beneficiaries are the Android and web entry points, while the growth curves in the US and India, which rely on the Apple Store for customer acquisition, are under pressure, along with the narrative of PUMP treating the mobile end as the main retail battlefield.

Apple has not disclosed the reason for the removal. The app was listed under entertainment while also offering token issuance and trading, which overlaps with existing regulatory friction regarding unregistered securities in the US and unauthorized financial services in the UK, all within the same distribution channel.
