Franklin Templeton's Digital Assets team states that crypto adoption looks fast now, but it will never be this slow again. The statement defines the current speed as the minimum for the future, without providing user numbers, address counts, or asset sizes.

Franklin Templeton is a traditional asset management company, and under CEO Jenny Johnson, it has established digital assets as an independent product line. The company has launched a Bitcoin spot exchange-traded fund and has tokenized its money market fund, allowing holders to view their shares on-chain. The approach is to use the old fund structure to connect to a new settlement layer.

This statement was not accompanied by any new fund announcements. It serves an already established shelf: spot crypto funds, tokenized money market funds, and custody and allocation services for institutions. If adoption is said to only get faster, subsequent products do not need to prove demand exists.

Slow is used as a comparison. For pension funds and wealth advisors still conducting due diligence, the current speed is evidence of their lag; for issuers already in the market, the current speed is the minimum baseline. Both sides use the same phrase.

The team did not clarify whether the measure of speed refers to price, addresses, or institutional account openings. Adoption can mean holding Bitcoin or using tokenized fund shares as collateral; the two are not the same thing.

The buyers are wealth institutions and advisors shifting from waiting to building positions, while the sellers are asset management companies providing funds and on-chain shares. The event is driven by judgment, not subscription data. If funds flow from cash and bond funds into crypto and tokenized products as suggested by this statement, the beneficiaries will be issuers with existing licenses and fund shells, while those platforms that have not completed custody and compliance access and can only watch prices will be under pressure.
