Cloudflare Acquires VoidZero to Strengthen AI-Native Web Development Toolchain
Cloudflare officially announced the acquisition of VoidZero, the open-source company behind Vite, Vitest, the Rust-based Rolldown bundler, and the Oxc toolchain.
After the acquisition, the core team of VoidZero, including Vite creator Evan You, will join Cloudflare, and all open-source projects will continue to maintain the MIT license and vendor neutrality. Cloudflare plans to deeply integrate these high-performance front-end build tools into its platform to support AI-native web application development.
The acquisition aims to provide global developers with a faster and more efficient JavaScript/TypeScript toolchain. Vite's weekly npm download volume has exceeded 129 million, and Cloudflare will also launch a $1 million fund to support Vite maintainers.
