Ashley Flowers, through "Crime Junkie" and her company Audiochuck, has become one of the most commercially viable creators in the true crime content space; her podcast generates an annual revenue of approximately $42 million. Audiochuck has signed a multi-year distribution and advertising sales agreement worth about $150 million with Fox's Tubi Media Group and Red Seat Ventures, with the core assets being "Crime Junkie" and its audience network built around true crime content.

The division of responsibilities in the deal is clearly defined: Tubi obtains exclusive video distribution rights for multiple Audiochuck shows, responsible for transforming audio podcasts into free ad-supported video on demand content; Red Seat Ventures handles advertising sales; and Audiochuck retains control over content development, show production, and host IP. The agreement covers shows like "Crime Junkie," "The Deck," "So Supernatural," "Dark Downeast," and "Park Predators," indicating that Tubi is not just purchasing a hit podcast, but a sustainable library of true crime content.

"Crime Junkie" has already launched on Tubi, with the first three seasons available to U.S. users in video on demand format, and subsequent seasons will continue to update weekly; Tubi also plans to launch a 24-hour free ad-supported "Crime Junkie" FAST channel, airing Audiochuck shows on Tubi, FOX One, and third-party platforms. The significance of the FAST channel is that podcast content will no longer rely solely on user subscriptions and searches but can be integrated into continuous playback streams, algorithm recommendations, and advertising slots like traditional cable TV shows.

Audiochuck has previously completed its capitalization. The Chernin Group invested $40 million in minority equity in 2025, valuing Audiochuck at approximately $250 million; Ashley Flowers still retains majority control. At that time, the company had about 65 full-time employees, and its network had accumulated over 2.6 billion downloads, with "Crime Junkie" alone exceeding 500 million streams on Spotify, reaching approximately 6 million listeners weekly.

The majority of the $150 million deal's value is seen by the industry as being contributed by "Crime Junkie," but Tubi still chose to include multiple Audiochuck shows in its distribution system. This is because true crime content has characteristics of long-tail consumption, low production costs, repeat viewership, cross-platform adaptability, and ad-friendliness: individual cases can be discovered by new users over the long term, and old content can be re-edited into videos, short videos, thematic collections, and FAST channel segments, ensuring the library's value does not quickly diminish after the initial airing.

In market mechanics, Tubi is the buyer of content and advertising inventory, Red Seat Ventures acts as the sales intermediary between brand budgets and podcast audiences, while Audiochuck sells the long-term attention of a highly focused true crime audience. Brands can purchase audio spots, dynamic insert ads, video pre-rolls, FAST channel ads, and show sponsorships; Tubi benefits from increased dwell time, ad fill rates, and user retention, while Audiochuck benefits from more stable minimum guarantees, cross-platform distribution, and program IP appreciation. Traditional podcast advertising networks face pressure as top shows shift from single audio ad placements to multi-layered inventories that are television-like, video-based, and platform-oriented.
