Block's Cash App has integrated Cash App Pay with MoonPay, allowing eligible U.S. users to purchase digital assets beyond Bitcoin and USDC using their account balance.

MoonPay claims to be the first and currently the only digital asset purchase platform integrated with Cash App Pay; after linking their accounts, users can make one-click payments in the MoonPay purchase process without needing to redirect or re-verify their identity.

Assets available for purchase include Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and USDT, with specific token availability depending on MoonPay's product and regional compliance; Block emphasizes that Cash App Pay only provides payment services and does not offer cryptocurrency services in this process.

Cash App Pay also covers purchase pages of some MoonPay partners, including Ledger, BitPay, Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Uniswap, Bitcoin.com, Moonshot, Tangem, LOBSTR, and Edge, allowing users to pay directly from their Cash App balance for related wallets or purchase orders.

MoonPay's payment infrastructure supports credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, bank transfers, and more; the minimum crypto purchase amount is $20, with Cash App Pay adding an instant balance payment option for U.S. users.

In terms of market mechanics, Block outputs the balance payment capability to MoonPay rather than listing, custodizing, or settling each token itself. Buyers are U.S. users looking to enter on-chain assets and self-custody wallets using Cash App dollar balances, while sellers and liquidity providers are mainly handled by MoonPay and its partner trading network. MoonPay gains a high-frequency retail payment entry, while wallets and decentralized trading applications reduce deposit friction; Block maintains Bitcoin as its core strategy while outsourcing multi-asset pricing, compliance, and operational risks to licensed crypto payment infrastructure.
