SpaceXAI Announces Open Source Grok Build, Releases CLI, Terminal Interface, and Agent Runtime Source Code Under Apache 2.0 License

This open source release is a programming tool and does not include the Grok 4.5 model, which still requires a connection to the cloud model to operate. The repository currently does not accept external contributions.

All user usage quotas have been reset. Previously, Grok Build was reported to default to uploading the entire Git repository. SpaceXAI has adjusted data retention settings and committed to deleting related user data.

SpaceXAI has previously focused on building a developer tool ecosystem. The open sourcing of Grok Build continues the open strategy of projects under Elon Musk, aiming to accelerate community adoption and gather feedback.

By releasing the runtime source code under the Apache 2.0 license, the entry barrier for developers is lowered while maintaining cloud model calls to sustain a commercial loop. The motivation is to respond to competition and expand the influence of the Grok ecosystem.

This is similar to the open-source path of Meta's Llama series and the early GitHub tool releases. Currently, SpaceXAI is in an expansion phase for AI development tools, attracting developers through open source and quota resets while quickly fixing privacy vulnerabilities to maintain trust.

Essentially, this is a technological substitution; open-source runtimes lower local build costs, driving the transformation of Agents and CLI tools from closed to community-driven, accelerating the popularization and iteration of AI programming infrastructure.
