BlackRock Submits New Tokenized Fund Structure Application, Partnering Again with Securitize
BlackRock has submitted a new tokenized fund structure application to the U.S. SEC, once again choosing Securitize to provide on-chain infrastructure support.
The new structure integrates on-chain fund share ownership records with regulated transfer agents and investor access systems, connecting on-chain and traditional financial compliance frameworks. Securitize Transfer Agent, LLC will be responsible for maintaining the official ownership records of fund shares on the public blockchain.
This is a further expansion following the success of BlackRock's BUIDL fund, which currently has assets totaling approximately $2.3 billion. The global tokenized RWA market has surpassed $30 billion.

BlackRock's rapid scaling following the joint launch of the BUIDL tokenized fund with Securitize in 2024 continues with this new structure application, maintaining its path of integrating traditional fund structures with blockchain. Previously, multiple tokenized products have been registered with the SEC, reflecting a continuous shift from pilot projects to systematic layouts.
In terms of capital pathways, BlackRock connects on-chain ownership records directly to the regulated registration system through Securitize, shifting resources from traditional fund backends to real-time settlement and transparency on-chain. The motivation is to reduce intermediary costs, enhance institutional liquidity, and secure early infrastructure control in the RWA sector, paving the way for larger institutional capital inflows.
Similar to the collaborative paths of traditional asset managers like Franklin Templeton and Ondo Finance with on-chain platforms, the current RWA industry is transitioning from early experimentation to a controlled phase of institutional-level compliance infrastructure. The $30 billion market size marks the shift from proof of concept to actual asset migration.
Essentially, this represents a reconstruction of the industry chain: the ownership records of funds are moving from traditional centralized registries to a hybrid system of on-chain and regulation. The mechanism lies in Securitize's technology, which allows on-chain data to directly meet SEC compliance requirements, breaking the previous inefficient model of "off-chain records + on-chain mirrors," enabling giants like BlackRock to control the entire pricing power of tokenized asset issuance, trading, and settlement through technological integration.

In traditional finance, the most valuable asset is not the asset itself, but the interface rights that transparently connect on-chain to the regulatory system. Scaling has never been about having a market first, but about having a compliant on-chain structure that institutions can trust. When Blackstone turns on-chain records into official registries, RWA transitions from an experimental product to a mainstream financial infrastructure.
