Stanford Athletics announced a multi-year partnership with DoorDash, calling it the largest sponsorship deal in the department's history and DoorDash's first jersey patch sponsorship in college sports. The football team will wear jerseys featuring the logo for the first time tonight against Georgia Tech at Stanford Stadium.

The patch is located below the ACC conference logo on the right chest of the football jersey; the basketball jersey will feature it on the upper left, above the conference logo and opposite the Nike swoosh. At least 15 varsity teams will wear the same branded apparel, covering men's and women's basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, and women's volleyball. The venue will add signage and digital screens, and the athletic teams will incorporate DoorDash into meal services for staff and student-athletes.

DoorDash was founded in 2013 by Stanford alumni Tony Xu, Andy Fang, and Stanley Tang as part of a class project. Xu stated that this is a return to the company's birthplace. Athletic Director John Donahoe described the deal as a full-circle moment for alumni entrepreneurship. The agency Elevate noted that this is its first college jersey patch deal and designed a NIL package for student-athletes.

The agreement also provides students with a free Student DashPass, which includes waived delivery fees and exclusive discounts until October 12. The university stated this is the second major multi-year contract in the past month, diversifying its sponsorship portfolio. Tonight's home game is also a red-themed day, with attendees receiving free red shirts; Stanford's season record is 1 win and 2 losses, with a conference record of 0 wins and 2 losses, and kickoff is at 10:30 PM ET, broadcast on ESPN.

The jersey patch places the delivery platform's logo directly below the conference logo, effectively turning the campus entrepreneurship story into a fixed pixel in national broadcasts. The financial details have not been disclosed, but it has been repeatedly referred to as the largest in team history, indicating that after the opening of player revenue sharing and transfers in college sports, jersey patches have become a new inventory comparable to professional teams.
