XPRIZE founder Peter Diamandis stated that the discussion should not focus on what AI takes away, but rather on what it allows people to do.

He identified three categories of issues that were previously assumed to be abandoned: diseases considered incurable, problems deemed too complex, and companies thought to require thousands of employees to operate. He defined permission as a decrease in the threshold for action, rather than an increase in the list of tools.

This same individual has long outsourced high-cost problems to small teams through prizes. The Ansari X Prize, established in the 1990s, offered a $10 million reward for private manned spaceflight, which was won by Scaled Composites' SpaceShipOne in 2004. The approach was to replace what was previously only affordable by national projects with a prize.

He co-founded Singularity University with Ray Kurzweil in 2008, later writing about how decreasing technology costs transform resources from scarcity to abundance. This speech connected the same logic to AI: diseases, complex systems, and company structures are all framed as thresholds that can be repriced.

The speech did not present new products, financing, or clinical data. It redefined "thousands of employees" from a prerequisite for company formation to a cost item that can be replaced by models.

Buyers are small teams and labs that take on large organizational tasks with fewer people, while sellers face pressure from service and R&D organizations that expand based on headcount. The event was driven by the speech, not by orders. Funding will shift from expansion budgets to models, computing power, and prize competitions, benefiting companies that can tackle diseases and complex systems with small teams, while pressuring institutions that still equate scale with thousands of employees.
