Legal tech company Harvey has hired 1,000 new employees in the past 12 months and plans to hire another 600 by the end of this year.

Currently, 70% of the team members joined the company in 2026, which means that the majority of the existing employees have been with the company for less than a year, and the team size has undergone significant renewal and expansion in a very short time.

Harvey's valuation has grown to $15.5 billion in four years since its establishment, according to disclosures from its venture capital partner a16z.

a16z invited Harvey's VP of Talent, Maggie Landers, to their podcast to discuss how the company builds a corporate culture that allows everyone to maintain the same sprint pace amid the influx of 1,000 new employees.

The podcast content was published by a16z's official account along with the aforementioned hiring and valuation data, and podcast co-host Katie Kirsch also confirmed the theme of the discussion, which revolves around Harvey's "crazy growth" and company culture.

Mechanically, Harvey's current round of personnel expansion and valuation growth are occurring simultaneously—while the company supports large-scale hiring through capital obtained from financing, it also uses the expanding team size to support the product development and customer service capabilities needed to sell AI legal products to more law firms and legal departments, forming a positive feedback loop of "financing → valuation increase → hiring expansion → business expansion → further support for valuation." The beneficiaries are early investors (such as a16z), as Harvey's valuation reaching $15.5 billion in four years significantly enhances the returns for early rounds; new employees attracted by high salaries also benefit, especially since 70% of the team consists of newcomers, requiring the company to retain this unprecedented influx of talent with competitive compensation and cultural investments. The pressure point is the company's organizational management capacity and cash flow—adding 1,000 people in 12 months and another 600 by the end of the year puts immense pressure on recruitment, training, and internal collaboration systems.
