MetaMask Announces Agent Wallet Launch on Grok Bot
MetaMask has announced that its Agent Wallet is now live on Grok Bot, utilizing the same security mechanisms that protect millions of MetaMask users.
The Agent Wallet is a self-custodial wallet designed for AI agents, allowing them to autonomously execute on-chain transactions within user-defined limits and protocol whitelists. Users can choose between Guard Mode, which requires dual authentication for operations outside the whitelisted protocols and daily limits, and Beast Mode, which offers more freedom while still intercepting malicious transactions. Each supported EVM transaction must undergo a three-step process of simulation, Blockaid threat scanning, and MEV protection.
The wallet supports operations on EVM chains, Hyperliquid perpetual contracts, and Polymarket prediction markets. Agents can query balances, transfer, swap, bridge, and open positions using natural language commands. MetaMask settles network fees during token transfers, eliminating the need for agents to hold native gas tokens. Eligible transactions can receive up to $10,000 in transaction protection coverage per month.
Users complete setup by installing the CLI and adding skills to the agent, supporting Google, passwordless email, and MetaMask mobile QR code logins. Keys can be managed in a trusted execution environment on the server, with users retaining export permissions. The agent framework includes Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and others.
Funds flow from manually confirmed transactions to agents executing autonomously within the rules. After users set limits and whitelists, agents can monitor the market and execute trades. MetaMask's secure pipeline and self-custodial structure empower agents to execute while users retain control. Agent operations without established rules still require manual approval.

MetaMask launched early access to Agent Wallet in June 2026, with about 200 testers participating, and opened it to the public in August. This announcement marks the wallet's launch on Grok Bot. The product is positioned as a self-custodial agent wallet, addressing the balance between agent autonomy and user control of funds.
The company applies its existing transaction security pipeline (simulation, Blockaid scanning, MEV protection) to the agent scenario, adding user-configurable limits and protocol whitelists. Resources shift from traditional wallet manual confirmations to rule-driven agent execution. Agents can operate on protocols like Hyperliquid and Polymarket, while keys are not directly exposed to agents.
Similar agent wallets have appeared on other platforms, but most are tied to centralized exchanges or treat security as optional. Current AI agent trading is transitioning from demonstrations to rule-constrained execution.
This fundamentally reflects regulatory changes and a restructuring of control mechanisms. Agent execution rights shift from unrestricted or fully manual confirmation to autonomous operations within user-defined policies. The mechanism embeds security checks by default into every transaction path, while dual modes and dual authentication handle requests that exceed policies, ensuring that control of funds remains with the user rather than being fully handed over to the agent.
