Google Labs has expanded its experimental product CC into a family and group-level AI assistant, shared by up to six members, to manage household coordination scattered across email, calendar, photos, and files.

CC has an independent, verified Google account and a dedicated email, eliminating the need for the whole family to share the same password. Members can add it as a collaborator in Gmail, Chat, Calendar, and Drive. Each person individually authorizes the sharing of senders, emails, photos, folders, or calendars, while other content does not automatically enter the shared context. It only responds to group members and does not act or transmit information externally without permission.

The pain points are described as: school notifications in one parent's email, training arrangements in an image, sign-up hidden in a PDF, and pick-up and dinner confirmations requiring multiple confirmations. The time-consuming tasks are forwarding, completing, confirming, and executing. In the demonstration, a swimming lesson notification can extract the child's name, time, location, swimming gear, and the first-day waiver form, and write it into the family calendar. In the morning, it sends a shared "Your Day Ahead" to the whole group, listing who should be where, what tasks are pending, and what was completed yesterday.

It can pre-fill permission slips and sign-up forms, list school supplies and a weekly meal plan, check travel times between consecutive activities using map interfaces, generate shared documents and spreadsheets, and distinguish between family-wide memories and individual dietary, time zone, and other entries. The backend runs on isolated cloud computers, using the Antigravity proxy framework and the latest Gemini model. The product is limited to U.S. personal accounts for individuals aged 18 and older, available on web and mobile; existing users receive upgrade emails, while new users are on a waiting list. CC was initially a personal briefing agent, later integrated into Gemini's Daily Brief, and is now split back into a family identity.

Similar family robots have independent startups, while Google is embedding it into existing office suites rather than launching a separate app. The limitation is that all members must be adults, and children's schedules still need to be relayed by parents.

In market mechanics, this is a suite stickiness experiment, not a standalone paid software launch. The buyers are American families already locked into Gmail and Calendar; the sellers aim to embed agent permissions into family platforms. Data flows from scattered inboxes into shared contexts, and computing power shifts from individual summaries to group-level tasks. Beneficiaries are Google's account system, which already occupies family schedules, while pressure is on personal assistant bots that cannot enter family group chats. The experiment itself does not change search advertising.
