Alex Cooper has signed a new three-year collaboration with SiriusXM, potentially worth up to $125 million, bringing "Call Her Daddy" and her Unwell Network into the satellite broadcasting, podcast advertising, video content, and film production system. For the 31-year-old Cooper, this deal is not just a host renewal but also SiriusXM's capital bet on her upgrade from a single hit show to a content network for young women.

The agreement, reached in August 2024, replaces her previous three-year $60 million exclusive deal with Spotify. SiriusXM gains audio and video advertising sales rights for "Call Her Daddy," additional program content, and live event rights; the show is no longer restricted to a single platform and can continue to be distributed across open podcast channels. The $125 million is not a fixed cash consideration but includes performance incentives, with actual revenue depending on program growth, advertising sales, and network business performance.

The Unwell Network was co-founded by Cooper and her husband, film producer Matt Kaplan, in 2023, initially signing young creators like Alix Earle, Madeline Argy, and Harry Jowsey, aiming to replicate the interview, relationship topics, and cultural influence of "Call Her Daddy." The network's business logic is to use Cooper as a core traffic entry point, incubating second and third-tier programs, and then sharing the risk of dependence on a single show through SiriusXM advertising sales, YouTube videos, brand collaborations, live events, and film development.

However, network expansion has not been smooth. Alix Earle's "Hot Mess" was terminated by Unwell in February 2025, with the network relinquishing rights to the show, and SiriusXM also stopping its advertising sales; Earle is now free to seek new production and distribution partners. For Unwell, losing its second most popular host not only weakens the content matrix but also exposes the core contradiction of creator networks: once top creators have independent fan relationships and brand bargaining power, they may not be willing to accept long-term constraints on commercial rights, production pace, and content control imposed by the network.

Unwell continues to rely on SiriusXM to promote channelization. In February 2025, SiriusXM launched two channels, Unwell Music and Unwell On Air: the former is a 24-hour music channel, while the latter offers live shows, call-in programs, and pop culture content within the app, with some programs simulcast on the Stars channel. This channel strategy shifts Unwell from a per-episode subscription podcast network to a broadcast content brand that can be aired daily, programmed, and sustainably filled with advertising inventory.

Cooper is also leveraging the network and her film production resources to expand video business. Disney+ will launch "Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special," hosted by her, in March 2026, centering on Miley Cyrus and featuring interviews and retrospectives around the 20th anniversary of "Hannah Montana"; this marks Cooper's transition from podcast host to streaming special program producer and host. The podcast provides relationship and interview styles, while the television platform offers broader audience coverage and higher single project budgets, creating a two-way flow of content IP.

Corporate governance issues have also become a cost of expansion. In June 2026, "Vanity Fair" interviewed over 40 sources, including at least 30 current or former Unwell employees, many of whom claimed the company had high-pressure management, employee reprimands, and a poor working environment; related reports also mentioned executive turnover within the network. These allegations come from anonymous sources and are not judicial or regulatory determinations, but for a media network reliant on creator recruitment, brand trust, and team creativity, internal cultural disputes can directly impact talent retention, contract negotiations, and advertiser risk assessments.

In market mechanisms, SiriusXM is the buyer of Cooper's high-value young female audience and advertising inventory, with brands purchasing attention in intimate relationships, pop culture, health, consumption, and lifestyle scenarios; Unwell attempts to convert a single host's advertising value into network-level revenue through multiple programs. Beneficiaries include top creators who can access cross-platform advertising, live channels, and television production opportunities, as well as SiriusXM, which holds advertising sales rights; those under pressure are podcast networks that cannot establish a second hit, suffer significant talent loss, or overly rely on a single star host.
