CFO Ian Borden stated that a typical store could reduce at least 50 hours of labor per week. The company's goal is to improve annual cash flow for average franchise stores in the U.S. by about $100,000, claiming overall efficiency could increase by about 250 basis points. Electronic scale calibration is currently used in about 10,000 locations globally, with plans to expand to 20,000 by 2028. Other products include delivery pickup lockers and hand-breaded chicken, along with what Global Chief People Officer Tiffanie Boyd described as the largest retraining effort in the brand's history. The estimated cost of remodeling a single store in the U.S. is about $800,000, with support adjusted according to the market. On Investor Day, the stock price fell nearly 5%, marking the largest single-day drop since April 2025. There are approximately 45,000 to 46,000 stores worldwide.

The headquarters is using rent and capital to equip franchisees with AI operating systems, while franchisees gamble on foot traffic and labor hours for recovery. Funds are flowing from the publicly listed company to renovation firms, Google Cloud, and kitchen equipment, with hopes of returning to higher average ticket prices through faster drive-thru service.
