The MongoDB board has appointed Ittycheria as interim President and CEO while hiring a headhunter to find a permanent successor. Ittycheria led the company from 2014 to 2025, during which revenue grew from about $35 million to over $2.3 billion. Chairman Tom Killalea stated that Ittycheria remained deeply involved as an executive director over the past year. The company reiterated its fiscal year 2027 guidance provided on September 1, and the investor day is scheduled to proceed as planned.

On the same day, Zuckerberg announced the launch of the "next major business pillar" Meta Enterprise Platform, packaging the company's AI models, agents, infrastructure, and long-term outreach to businesses for sale to enterprises. Initial products include the personal agent Muse, the business-oriented Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and coding tool Muse Code. Desai stated that the work is to turn this technology stack into deployable products and services for enterprises, noting that Meta has served millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses. Muse was launched to U.S. consumers on September 8, with further enhancements at Connect; the Business Agent has been used by over 1 million businesses on WhatsApp and Messenger.

The sellers are funds holding MongoDB shares that incorporate management continuity into their valuations; the buyers are shorts and repositioning funds cashing in on the "AI replacing traditional application layers" trade. The event was driven by the current CEO being poached the day before the investor day, with funds shifting from database software premiums to platform stocks that can rewrite consumer-grade agents into enterprise subscriptions. The beneficiaries are Meta's new business line and the newly appointed leader who reports directly to Zuckerberg, while MongoDB, having just completed the transition, faces pressure to explain that its guidance remains valid on the public day. Piper Sandler described the departure as disappointing but viewed the stock price reaction as excessive. Meta's stock also saw a decline in early trading.
