Igor Tulchinsky, founder of WorldQuant, has donated £5 million (approximately $6.8 million) to the British Museum to support the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition. King Charles described it as an extraordinary piece of art. The exhibition is positioned as one of the largest highlights in the museum's generation.

The tapestry, approximately 70 meters long and depicting the Norman Conquest of 1066, is returning to the UK for the first time since its creation. The exhibition will run from September to July 2027, during which the original museum in Normandy will be undergoing renovations. It is insured for about £800 million. The first batch of tickets, available for about three and a half months, sold out in one day, generating approximately £2.5 million in ticket sales, with adult weekend tickets priced at £33, and expected attendance exceeding one million. The museum stated that the exhibition's costs could range from £5 million to £10 million. Sponsorship includes school programs, with plans to organize visits for tens of thousands of students. Tulchinsky expressed his attraction to the mathematical structures within the fabric and noted his desire to teach history through tangible objects rather than textbooks. He immigrated to the United States from Belarus with his musician parents and founded WorldQuant in 2007 after leaving the Millennium statistical arbitrage team, with reported management assets in the billions and a personal fortune estimated at around $1.7 billion. London is the company's first international office location. Museum trustee George Osborne has publicly expressed gratitude. In return, the British Museum will lend items such as the Sutton Hoo and Lewis chess pieces back to Normandy.

In market mechanisms, buyers include the public and sponsors purchasing tickets and making donations, while sellers are the lending countries and hosting museums; the driving force is the renovation window combined with the Anglo-French narrative. Funds from quantitative fund profits are directed towards the exhibition and educational projects, with ticket sales covering part of the costs. Beneficiaries include students gaining access to the museum and museums needing to fill budget gaps, while the original preservation site faces pressure from tourists and the French museum lending out national memory for a year.
