SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated on social media that he sees a path for SpaceX to exceed the current Earth economy by several orders of magnitude, admitting that this claim sounds extremely crazy.

SpaceX's current market value is approximately $2.2 to $2.3 trillion, having completed the largest IPO in history in June with a valuation of about $1.75 to $1.8 trillion, under the ticker symbol SPCX. During the same period, Tesla's market value was about $1.5 trillion. The company generated approximately $23 billion in revenue over the past four quarters but incurred losses exceeding $8 billion during the same period, with the market assigning it a nearly 99 times sales multiple, far higher than Tesla's approximately 14 times.

The International Monetary Fund estimates the global nominal GDP in 2026 to be around $126 trillion. One order of magnitude corresponds to about $12.6 trillion, while two orders of magnitude reach about $126 trillion. Musk had previously indicated to investors and in public that if the goals are achieved, SpaceX's value would exceed the rest of the Earth, and this statement has now escalated to "several orders of magnitude."

SpaceX's Starship completed its 14th flight in September and entered orbit for the first time, deploying 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites, but returned early due to engine issues. The company is advancing orbital refueling, rapid reusability, and lunar landing systems, with goals including in-orbit solar energy collection, asteroid mining, orbital manufacturing, space data centers, and self-sufficient cities on the Moon and Mars.

Musk holds a high proportion of voting rights in SpaceX and retains effective control, with most of his personal wealth tied to SpaceX equity. Wall Street analysts have a wide range of target prices from $62 to $800, with some estimating fair value around $1.3 trillion, while the bond market had already priced long-term debt with a higher risk premium in July.

This statement represents a typical event-driven narrative trading. Capital flowing into SPCX primarily bets on the incremental economy unlocked by the scaling of Starship and the associated space resources (near-infinite solar energy and minerals), rather than current cash flow. Beneficiaries include Musk and existing shareholders (if the narrative continues), while those under pressure include institutional shorts with conservative valuation models, traditional energy and resource companies, and fixed-income investors reliant on Earth GDP growth.
