Binance Receives Outstanding Contribution Award for Tai Po Fire Relief from Hong Kong Community Chest

Binance announced that it received the "Outstanding Contribution Award for the Timely Rain Fund – Tai Po Fire Relief" at the Hong Kong Community Chest's 2025/2026 Annual Awards Ceremony, recognizing its contributions to relief efforts following the Tai Po fire.

After the Tai Po fire last year, Binance Group donated HKD 10 million to the Hong Kong Community Chest to support post-disaster relief and recovery efforts, with funds providing immediate financial assistance to affected families through the Community Chest's Timely Rain Tai Po Fire Relief Fund.

Eowyn Chen, Chief Marketing Officer and Binance Charity representative, accepted the award on behalf of the group. She stated that users and communities are the foundation of Binance's development, and the group aims to provide timely support to those in need during difficult times, continuously conveying positive energy to society and communities.

Since its establishment in 2018, Binance Charity has continuously supported global emergency relief, education, and poverty alleviation projects, donating over USD 47 million and assisting more than 4.2 million people across 87 countries and regions.

Richard Teng expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and affected communities, hoping that the contribution would help the community begin to recover from the incident.

The initiative was driven by immediate donations following the five-alarm fire at Hong Fu Court in Tai Po, with funds flowing from Binance Charity to the post-disaster relief coordinated by the Hong Kong Community Chest, benefiting families and communities affected by the fire, while ensuring transparency and ongoing recovery for the aid projects.

Binance's core philosophy is "user-centric, giving back to the community," and this award represents regional recognition within its global charitable efforts.

Since the establishment of Binance Charity in 2018, Binance has continuously supported global emergency relief, education, and poverty alleviation with both cryptocurrency and traditional methods. Its historical contributions include donations for disasters in Vietnam, Taiwan, India, and Pakistan, totaling over USD 47 million and covering more than 4.2 million people across 87 countries and regions. The HKD 10 million donation for the Tai Po fire continues its "Timely Rain" model of immediate response.

In terms of capital flow, the company directs part of its operational surplus or dedicated charitable funds into the post-disaster fund coordinated by the Hong Kong Community Chest, transforming resources from trading platform revenues into local community relief and brand building. The motivation is to reinforce the narrative that "users and communities are the foundation," while accumulating a positive image in compliance and community relations in Asia.

Similar cases include targeted donations and subsequent award recognitions by other large exchanges or tech companies during regional disasters. Currently, Binance is in a control phase transitioning from global expansion to localized community embedding and compliance consolidation, with charity serving as a soft connection tool.

This essentially involves restructuring the industry chain and capital concentration: exchanges are shifting some resources from pure trading profits towards community relief and public image building. The mechanism is to convert platform loyalty into social legitimacy through timely large donations and official awards, making charity a path-dependent supplement in user retention and regulatory environments, rather than merely a cost expenditure.
