The incident number is EX1464935, confirmed from approximately 17:30 UTC, with the failure mode related to authentication and protocol connections.

Downdetector shows a rapid increase in complaints related to Outlook, rising from 3,000 to over 13,000 within ten minutes after 9 AM Eastern Time, mainly focused on receiving emails, applications, and login issues. The impact is primarily on Microsoft 365 business accounts, while the consumer public status page still showed normal at one point. Microsoft’s stock fell about 0.5% during trading.

On the same day, OpenAI's status page confirmed partial interruptions for ChatGPT Work, with delays increasing from approximately 11:04 AM Eastern Time, followed by the Work mode becoming unavailable for Plus users, and multiple subscription tiers unable to create or continue tasks. The company stated it has identified the increased errors and is implementing mitigations. The regular chat feature remains available for some users, but the Work switch is interrupted.

The two incidents occurred on the same day, and there has been no official announcement of shared infrastructure. Microsoft stated it is analyzing telemetry and assessing the impact scope; OpenAI mentioned that mitigations are still ongoing. The start of the school semester has caused overlapping usage scenarios for some universities to report issues.
