Apple's Executive Chairman Tim Cook arrived in Guangzhou on October 10, marking his first trip to China since stepping down as CEO on September 1, approximately five weeks ago.

Cook visited the filming site of a short film directed by young director Gu Tianji and featuring Wing Chun master Dai Zilong, set in a Lingnan-style garden. The project uses the iPhone 18 Pro series to record traditional martial arts movements; the team utilized the device's camera system to capture rapidly changing martial arts techniques in low-light conditions, highlighting the combination of the garden and martial arts.

The on-site team presented Cook with a digital "martial arts manual" drawn using the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro, showcasing Wing Chun techniques and cultural elements in a hand-drawn format. Cook expressed his happiness to be back in China and described his first experience of feeling the charm of Wing Chun through the iPhone 18 Pro lens as unforgettable.

As Executive Chairman, Cook continues to assist with certain company affairs, including communication with global policymakers; Apple previously arranged for him to maintain involvement with the Chinese market and related relationships in his new role, with Guangzhou chosen as the first stop for this trip, focusing on cultural imaging projects.

Cook has long publicly expressed interest in Chinese culture, previously praising Chinese calligraphy as one of the most beautiful art forms in the world and emphasizing that technology can help expand the audience for traditional culture; this observation directly combines traditional martial arts with Apple’s imaging and creative tools.

This visit reinforces Apple's ongoing presence in the Chinese market, linking product capabilities with local cultural creation driven by events; collaboration between devices and content benefits from the synergy between the brand and creators, while the market environment that relies on supply chains and sales still makes maintaining high-level relationships a priority.

The filming site is located in a garden with Lingnan characteristics, where Cook communicated with the creative team about mobile imaging and professional production processes.
