XPRIZE Chairman Peter Diamandis stated that the old social contract of excelling in high school, going to college, obtaining a degree, and then finding a job is no longer valid. He quoted a friend who described this path as "overdone."

He compressed the new contract into four steps: find something you deeply care about as a purpose; he defines passion as doing what you love and purpose as doing what you love while helping others; if you don't know your purpose, work is about finding it; once you identify a problem that shouldn't exist but can be solved, wear both the AI and entrepreneur hats to create it, thus taking control of your career, profession, and future.

This statement comes from the Moonshots event. The background screen displayed the construction competition in collaboration with Gemini and XPRIZE, featuring over 26,000 builders, 5 finalists, and 1 winner, with a live prize of $2 million. On October 1, the program's account edited this segment to say "replace going to college, obtaining a degree, and finding a job in one breath." On October 2, he retweeted it, adding: once you realize there are problems outside that you can solve, your mindset will completely change; the tools available now are what our ancestors could only dream of, and they should be utilized.

He did not provide statistics on employment rates, tuition fees, or which types of jobs are disappearing, nor did he say degrees are invalid. What has changed is the sequence: instead of being admitted and then hired, it is now about finding solvable problems first before taking action. The only tool specifically mentioned was AI, without specifying a model.

XPRIZE is a reward organization he has operated for a long time, keeping the power to define problems with the funders while opening the problem-solving rights to participants. This event conveyed the same structure to the audience: a $2 million prize awarded to one person, with 26,000 builders as the denominator. The retweet did not introduce new competition rules.

This is not about recruitment. The buyers are students and parents who consider the old contract as the default path; the sellers are the competition organizers who catch this group with rewards, tools, and purpose narratives. The event was driven by a 56-second speech being edited, with the money already in the live prize pool, not in this post. Those who benefit are those who can write problems into contest specifications; those under pressure are still following the degree queue to secure their first job. The mindset change does not come with a price tag.
