AI data center developer Crusoe has completed a $3.9 billion Series F financing, with a post-money valuation of approximately $30.9 billion. Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, and Mubadala led the round, with participation from Founders Fund, TPG, GIC, NVIDIA, and Qatar Investment Authority.

The company previously built a large facility in Abilene, Texas, for use by OpenAI and others, with a planned capacity of approximately 2.1 gigawatts. It is now directing funds towards its prefabricated small unit, Spark: manufactured in its own factory, loaded onto flatbed trucks, and deployed to locations with available electricity, claiming to reduce on-site construction time from years to weeks. Manufacturing and electrical support facilities are already established in Colorado and Tulsa.

Officials state that the total contract value of the platform exceeds $140 billion, with a gross contract capacity of over 6 gigawatts, and approximately 1 gigawatt has been delivered and is operational. CEO Chase Lochmiller stated that inference does not require building another Abilene. The company started in 2018 using associated gas from oil fields for computing, later shifting to NVIDIA accelerator cards.

Rising costs and delays in large facilities have led to a focus on prefabricated modules that capitalize on surplus electricity and faster deployment. The financing supports two product lines: ultra-large campuses and mobile cabinets, as well as Crusoe Cloud.

In market mechanisms, this represents a repricing of "movable computing power" by private equity. Beneficiaries are developers and chip manufacturers who can turn fragmented electricity points into rentable cabinets; those under pressure are large-scale construction companies that cannot break down into truck-sized units. Capital is flowing from sovereign and growth funds into factories and land, with no public market for this asset, and the valuation anchored at $30.9 billion in private equity.
