Axios: AI Forces College Students to Rethink Majors

Axios reports that artificial intelligence is forcing college students in the U.S. to reassess their major choices, with some students stating that certain fields "make no sense" anymore.

Burton Baecker, a student at the University of California, Davis, switched from accounting to finance, saying, "If AI can handle everything, then entering this field makes no sense."

The latest survey shows that nearly 70% (69%) of college students are concerned that AI will make job hunting more difficult, and over 20% (22%) have changed their major or direction due to worries about the job market.

Less than half (45%) of students feel optimistic about the job market after graduation, as employers have significantly raised their expectations for entry-level employees, requiring them to manage AI tools and possess critical thinking skills.
